Time For A Detox

New year is the time for a detoxing declutter- plus a Christmas full of friends and family can take its toll on your home.

Interior trends for 2018 are moving away from last year’s tropical tones. Deep blues, particularly indigo are back, often mixed with metallic tones to lift them and give them warmth. A great example is the lovely signature fabric of our classical Ferdinand chair, which mixes blue tones and silver. Warm copper mixes beautifully with deep blues and wallpaper ranges such Casamance’ Palace Vendrome are a good place to look for gleam with a hint of glisten and textured shine. Elaborate custom-made scatter cushions will change the feel of a room, adding welcoming props of colour and fun. Jane Churchill’s embroidered fabrics make eye-catching accessories and feature many of the warm metallic tones I favour.

I’d also recommend careful placing of warm metallic accessories. Don’t go too far with any makeover and don’t get rid of things you love because they don’t go with a new scheme. Houses are homes and they are not meant to be too perfect. They should reflect your history as well as your taste. A welcome return to creative colour and personal taste – not just slavishly adhering to the latest trends.
